Yesterday is beyond us now

Like the setting of the sun

A new day is dawning

A new journey is begun

 

Perfect we are not

The lord makes it so

We’re to do the best we can

Drawing from what we know

 

Each bridge that we cross

Surely helps us on our way

We cannot begin the trip

If we’re lost in yesterday

 

So don’t look back my friend

Only look ahead

Don’t get lost in what was

Or what might have been said

 

Concentrate on where you go

Where you’ve never been

One foot in front of the other

And smile remembering when

 

Once you may have stopped

Momentarily along your way

Lost but briefly on the path

In the fog of yesterday
